Declination
From South Dublin Astronomical Society
Declination is to the sky what latitude is to the surface of the Earth. The sky directly below the south pole is at -90° and the sky directly above the north pole is at +90°. The celestial equivalent of longitude is called Right Ascension.
The Declination and Right Ascension of objects do not change throught the day, unlike altitude and azimuth, and so thes coordinates are used in astronomical starmaps.
